Buying Skis from Sundance Ski Shop
Buying skis from a specialty shop like Sundance Ski and Snowboard can seem a little intimidating at first. After all our staff are experts, and we have hundreds of models of skis in a dizzying range of sizes, shapes, and styles.
You might imagine the conversation going something like this:
You: “Hi, I’m looking for new skis.”
Us: “Like, dude! Check out this epic freeride setup, you can totally smear some pow on the backside, but they’re totally rad as your daily driver too!”
You: “Uh… pardon?”
Actually, no. It’s not going to be like that.
At Sundance, we promise not to talk down to you or drown you in ski jargon. Sure, we’re passionate about skiing (it’s why we do what we do!), but what we’re most passionate about is making sure you have a great time on the mountain.
That means speaking plainly, listening carefully, and helping you find the skis that truly fit your needs.
What to Expect When You Come In
When you visit us, we’ll probably ask you a few questions to get a sense of what you’re looking for:
-
What are you skiing on now?
-
Where do you usually ski: local hills, mountains, or both?
-
If you’re skiing in the mountains, what kind of terrain do you prefer? Groomed runs, powder, trees, or open bowls?
-
What types of runs do you like most: green, blue, or black?
-
Who do you usually ski with: friends, family, kids?
-
How would you describe your ability level?
These questions help us understand how and where you ski, so we can narrow down the right options.
We’ll Explain the Tech (in Plain English)
We’ll take the time to walk you through what makes each ski unique; its shape, construction, and design features, and explain what all that means for you on snow.
You’ll leave understanding how a ski shape and rocker profile affects turning, what flex means for control, and why a certain width might make your day that much better.
Most importantly, you’ll know why a particular ski will help you have more fun and ski with more confidence.
The Bottom Line
Buying skis doesn’t need to be complicated or overwhelming. At Sundance, we’re here to make sure you leave not just with the right skis, but with the knowledge and confidence to love every run you take.
So, come on in. Tell us about your skiing. We’ll take it from there.
